My kid has asthma and is allergic to cats, we discovered. The doctor basically said we would need to choose between the kid and the cat. So now the cat lives with my husband's cousin, which is only about 15 miles away. But our relationship has changed. It really is a dagger in my heart when I see him and he has very little recognition for me. Oy vey. Maybe when my daughter grows up and moves to her own house we'll get another cat. No, as much Gus might've enjoyed "playing" with the bun, he's always on a leash when he goes outside. He has given chase a few times, but these bunnies know he's on a leash and run just a few feet out of his reach. I love our bunnies, sideways or not. I'd feel bad if anything happened to them!
